The Latitude Festival is a cutting-edge, acclaimed event that blends the finest in art and music. The magnificent trees and verdant meadows of Henham Park in this charming region of England are turned into a fantastical paradise for a single weekend. Here you can wander from films to music, comedy to literature, theater to poetry, spending your weekend in the stunning surroundings of Henham Park in the Suffolk countryside. The festival is especially popular with families. There are retreats where you can relax surrounded by atmospheric music or unwind with yoga, film screenings in the forest, art installations, and much more.
The top performers in comedy, dancing, theater, music, literature, and other fields are shown at the festival. The National, George Ezra, New Order, Lana Del Rey, and The Killers are just a few of the numerous acts who have performed there in recent years since it began in 2006. Latitude also offers a wide range of entertainment for the whole family and children, so it’s no surprise that the festival has been named the best family festival at the UK Festival Awards for two years in a row.
The location of the Latitude Festival and a bit of history
Every year, the Latitude Festival znaki.fm/events/latitude-festival/ takes place in the vicinity of Southwold, a town in Suffolk County, England. It is put on by the concert company Festival Republic, which also organizes the festivals in Leeds and Reading and, up until 2012, Glastonbury.
The debut Latitude Festival took place from July 14 to 16, 2006. It featured mainly British bands and performers , but there was also room on stage for foreign guests such as Antony and Johnsons, The Lemonheads, and Patti Smith.
The Latitude Festival has several stages dedicated to different genres. The BBC Radio 6 Music Stage is reserved for alternative music, the Sunrise Arena and The Lake Stage feature lesser-known but promising musicians, and Late Night At The Sunrise Arena is dominated by dance and electronic music. And these are just some of the stages! The festival’s headliners, of course, perform on the main stage.
Latitude Festival would be more accurately described as a music and arts festival, because in addition to music, its program includes theater, dance, cinema, literature (both prose and poetry), cabaret, contemporary visual arts, and much more. This distinguishes Latitude Festival from most other English music festivals and brings it closer to festivals in continental Europe, where different types and genres of art interact, intertwine, and merge into one.
